Blazers Celebrates IWD with UB Panel Discussion

On March 23, 2023, Bron Ltd. (“BRON”) celebrated International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month with a seminar and panel discussion on “Creating a Culture of Equity in STEM: Challenging Bias & Breaking Barriers.” Hosted at the University of The Bahamas, the event featured a stimulating discussion with a diverse group of students in STEM, including those studying sustainability and environmental studies.

Partnering with the University of The Bahamas and American Spaces Bahamas, the ladies of BRON shared their expertise and facilitated a discussion on how to #EmbraceEquity while working in a STEM environment. The event was a success, and we’re excited to share some highlights from the day with you.

The invited guests were UB students going into a STEM-related program. With a sea of our Blazers (BRON team members) in black and gold, students were treated to five thought- provoking presentations on the work we do.

Student’s excitedly heard from Crystal Hanna, Associate Principal – Architecture; Elise Roberts, Associate Principal – Geomatics; Kelli Armstrong, Associate Principal – Program & Business Development; Latesha Gibson, Environmental Scientist I; and Franchesca Palomino, Jr. Environmental Scientist.

A panel of dynamic women each gave a brief synopsis of a day in the life of a Blazer in their respective fields. After the presentations, the floor was opened for questions in a panel- styled discussion. The students were introduced to a whole new world of opportunities within the field and lit up with excitement.

BRON acknowledges the significance of gender equality and the removal of gender-based discrimination and systemic barriers hindering access to opportunities for women and girls. BRON took pride in joining a conversation with STEM students, drawing inspiration from women revolutionizing the industry. Remarkably, women lead 57% of BRON’s teams, despite it being a traditionally male-dominated industry. BRON understands that gender equality is fundamental for creating thriving and prosperous societies, and its commitment to building a fairer and more equal world remains unyielding.
