BRON Celebrates STEM Day by Advocating for Bahamian Leadership in National Development

BRON celebrates STEM Education by inspiring future leaders through school outreach and internships, fostering Bahamian innovation and sustainable development.

Nassau, Bahamas – November 8, 2024 – In observance of STEM Day, Bron Ltd. (“BRON”), the Caribbean’s leading development consulting firm, underscores the importance of Bahamians pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). By nurturing local talent, BRON provides platforms for skilled Bahamians to return home and contribute meaningfully to national progress.

“Our purpose has always been to Make Paradise Possible by ensuring Bahamian professionals have opportunities to apply their expertise locally,” said Carlos E. Palacious, Managing Principal of BRON. “It’s about creating a future where leadership is driven by those who deeply understand our nation’s unique needs.”

This mission has been brought to life through initiatives like BRON’s STEM Day Edu-Crawl, which is now in its second year. The program takes BRON’s professionals into classrooms across The Bahamas to share their diverse expertise in engineering, environmental science, architecture, and project management. The Edu-Crawl offers students a glimpse into the vast possibilities within STEM, inspiring the next generation of leaders.

“The Edu-Crawl is about showing students how STEM careers can solve real-world challenges and drive sustainable development in their communities,” said Scott Blacquiere, BRON Managing Principal.

Complementing its long-standing internship program, which has provided hands-on learning opportunities for years, the Edu-Crawl inspires students to pursue STEM careers. Through the internship program, students collaborate with seasoned professionals on active projects, gaining invaluable experience that often leads to full-time roles. BRON Managing Principal Kevin Sweeting, who leads the infrastructure team and boasts the company’s highest intern-to-full-time employee ratio, emphasized, “Internships at BRON provide more than just experience; they create a pipeline for future leaders equipped to take the reins of the country’s outlook.”

“Empowering Bahamians in STEM is not just about education; it’s about sovereignty and self-reliance,” Carlos added. “We must ensure that our people are at the helm of our nation’s development, making decisions that are culturally relevant, environmentally sustainable, and reflect our priorities.”

As The Bahamas experiences significant foreign investment, BRON emphasizes the need for Bahamians to lead in shaping the nation’s future. By working together with educational institutions, government agencies, and private sector partners, we can build a future where Bahamians are leaders in driving progress and sustainability.
