Two promising young women onboarded to team after successful BRON Internship
NASSAU, Bahamas – Bron Ltd. (“BRON”) caps off its 2023 cohort by celebrating a milestone for its Internship Program, welcoming its largest group of interns to date. Representing a spectrum of youth from 10th graders to recent university alumni, this initiative reaffirms BRON’s dedication to molding the next generation of STEM professionals.
This year saw a diverse blend of twenty-one interns: thirteen young men and eight young women, each from varied educational backgrounds. These young talents dived into various disciplines shadowing teams in civil, coastal and structural engineering, architecture, environmental, project management, and business solutions, mirroring the multifaceted nature of BRON’s operations.
Reflecting on his personal journey, BRON’s Managing Principal, Carlos Palacious, remarked, “At 21 years old, Scott Blacquiere graciously welcomed me as an intern. Over a decade later, it’s a privilege to see our team mentor twenty-one interns, with two now onboarded to official capacities. I’m optimistic for what the future holds, perhaps seeing one of these young minds join us as partners, just as I did with Scott.”
Success stories like Ariel Pinder and Tayla Bain, now Jr. Structural and Jr. CAD Technicians respectively, spotlight the long-term opportunities offered. Similarly, Raven Roberts, an intern from 2019, further exemplifies this by evolving into BRON’s Jr. Architectural Designer. BRON’s program isn’t just about providing temporary learning environments but crafting long-term career pathways.
A noteworthy 40% of this year’s interns were young women, highlighting BRON’s commitment to gender diversity in STEM. This alignment with BRON’s ethos of empowerment and mentorship ensures a culture where every talent thrives – making paradise possible for all.
Intern testimonials echo the program’s success. Paige Wells shares how her tenure at BRON offered a comprehensive view of structural and project management fields, backed by a supportive team. Likewise, Connor Carey found clarity in his civil engineering aspirations thanks to practical exposure.
Amber Turner’s post-internship endeavors at national events, notably at the Bahamas Youth Climate Conference, showcase the program’s value in augmenting academic knowledge. She expresses that her experience at BRON a few years ago enabled her to engage more effectively in environmental advocacy.
Gabrielle Conliffe, HR Administrator at BRON, expressed her admiration for the interns, “Many were shy on day one, but were able to shine with confidence during their final presentations. So much talent at such young ages. It was heartening to witness their growth.”
Concluding, Carlos emphasized, “Our Internship Program, running for several years, has grown beyond a mere summer stint. It’s where raw potential transforms into capability. I extend my gratitude to the interns for their ambition and fresh perspectives and to the entire BRON family for nurturing this vision making it a resounding success.”
