About Project

Baha Mar Resort

BRON provided civil engineering, structural engineering, coastal engineering and more services for this luxury resort.

Project Description: Baha Mar Resort is an aggressive reconstruction of the Cable Beach strip involving the demolition and relocation of existing resorts, government offices, banks, police/fire station and more. The redeveloped resort will include six new hotels, over 2,000 new rooms, largest convention center in The Bahamas, largest casino in the Caribbean and world-class golf course.

The resort is located on the famed Cable Beach stretch on the island of New Providence. Previous developments in Cable Beach over the past 20+ years resulted in harmful effects to the beach in certain areas. The Baha Mar Resort project involves reconstruction of the beach for some 1,500+ft in order to regain the world-class beach expected at the new resort.

(1) Engaged by Baha Mar since 2006 as prime engineering consultants to study the existing coast at the Baha Mar site and design the revitalized beach experience to become a world class beach,

(2) Conducted an extensive field investigation program of the Delaport Basin in the area of the resort which included beach and shoreline mapping, hydrographic surveying, current and wave measurements, sediments sampling and benthic resource surveys,

(3) Detailed computerized modeling related to sediment transport as well as storm surge was carried out in the preliminary design phases of the project prior to a 2+ year project suspension in 2008,

(4) Baha Mar core project design team to optimize the beach experience and its relationship to the resort development, and also lead discussions on the marine and coastal works with the Government of the Bahamas approvals agencies,

(5) We remain actively involved with construction quality control for the marine works.
