Bron Ltd. (“BRON”), a leader in interdisciplinary development consulting, proudly celebrates Associate Principal of Programs & Business Development, Kelli Armstrong, as she marks her tenth year with the company. A decade ago, BRON welcomed a trailblazer whose passion for the environment and dedication to climate resilience would help shape both the firm’s future and the nation’s progress.
Today, the company honors her journey as the first certified Climate Change Professional in The Bahamas, the founding member of BRON’s Environmental team, and the leader who established BRON’s Project Management Division.
With a family of STEM professionals, Kelli’s curiosity for science was sparked early. Her sister, a chemist, ignited her fascination with discovery, while her grandfather’s career as a mathematician and meteorologist strengthened her appreciation for inquiry and precision.
By high school, Kelli knew she wanted to be a scientist, though it was at the University of The Bahamas (UB) that her direction became clear. Initially pursuing a career in chemistry, she discovered her passion for environmental science through a course in ecology.
Her love for nature and fieldwork led her to explore marine and coastal research, with internships at the Ministry of Environment and the Marine and Environmental Studies Institute solidifying her commitment to sustainability.
Shaping a Career in Environmental and Climate Science
Kelli continued her academic journey at Acadia University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. There, she deepened her technical expertise and developed a strong sense of community and leadership.
As Acadia’s first Student Equity Officer, she advocated for inclusion, wellness, and policy reform: experiences that shaped her ability to engage stakeholders and build consensus, skills that would become central to her career.

Her graduate studies at Columbia University’s Climate and Society program, supported by a full scholarship, connected her to leading researchers and policymakers. As a graduate research assistant, she worked on climate risk and disaster management projects across the Caribbean, helping bridge the gap between science and society. Her work focused on enhancing the use of climate information by decision-makers, particularly in vulnerable communities.
Building Teams and Leading Growth at BRON
After returning home, Kelli joined BRON (formerly Caribbean Coastal Services) in 2015 as the company expanded into environmental services. Within her first year at BRON, Hurricane Joaquin devastated the southern islands, providing Kelli with firsthand experience that highlighted the urgent need for data-driven environmental planning and resilience. This experience laid the foundation for BRON’s environmental service line, which now plays a crucial role in the company’s multidisciplinary approach and numerous projects across the country today.
Her leadership helped shape national initiatives, including The Bahamas’ National Integrated Coastal Zone Management Policy Framework, BRON’s first significant engagement with a multilateral development bank. The project brought together experts across government and academia, positioning BRON as a trusted partner in climate adaptation and sustainable development.
As the environmental team grew under her mentorship, Kelli transitioned into project management, applying her coordination and stakeholder engagement skills to the firm’s expanding portfolio. She played a pivotal role in developing standard operating procedures that continue to guide project execution across BRON’s network.
Her forward-thinking approach led to the formal establishment of the company’s Project Management Office, strengthening BRON as a one-stop shop for efficiency, consistency, and accountability across all disciplines.
During this transition, Kelli pursued her Professional Climate Change Certification, reflecting personal growth and strategic insight.
“It was a validating experience,” she noted, as much of the new information reaffirmed her extensive background in climate and sustainability. Her motivation stemmed from understanding The Bahamas’ environmental and economic ties.
“Our country’s economy relies on tourism, which depends on our natural resources,” Kelli said. “As a climate change professional, I can address local issues and inform stakeholders about the value of our resources while fostering appreciation within my team.”
This perspective continues to guide her leadership as she helps BRON navigate complex projects with both technical precision and cultural sensitivity.
A Vision for Sustainable Leadership
Looking ahead, her vision remains centered on growth and leadership.
“I want to see BRON continue to expand its project management capacity, bringing on professionals who can confidently apply their skills to manage our projects and relationships with precision and care,” she shared.
Kelli envisions BRON continuing to be a mainstay in the market, known for its specialized expertise, integrity, and innovative approach. “We bring a certain distinction to the industry, and I believe we will remain a preferred project partner in The Bahamas,” she said.
As BRON celebrates its 20th anniversary, it also celebrates Kelli Armstrong, a leader whose impact has helped shape the company’s legacy and advance the future of climate and environmental leadership across the Caribbean.
Her journey reflects the very heart of BRON’s purpose: to make paradise possible for all. Through her vision, BRON continues to build not just projects, but possibilities for communities and their development for generations to come.
